USPS Goes “Global” Hosts Chinese Business Seminar and Networking Event in Flushing
Postal Service Showcases its Global Services for Small to Medium Sized Chinese American Businesses
Flushing, NY— On Thursday, November 6, 2008, As a part of its new “Go Global Initiative”, the US Postal Service hosted a Chinese American business seminar and networking event at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel, located at 135-20 39th Avenue, Flushing, NY 11368. Chinese businessmen and women mingled and shared information while the Postal Service showcased its latest information on its Global Shipping products, and its Click-N-Ship service that allows a business to do all of their shipping right from their premises with free Postal pick up.
Several seminars were given by David A. Roman, from the Department of Commerce who spoke on Export Basics, Man-Li Kou Lin from the Small Business Administration who spoke on how the SBA could help your business, and Shalene Monahan, from the USPS who spoke on International Shipping.
Other special guests included NYC Councilman John Liu, Chinese Business Association Executive Director, Peter Tu, Flushing Business Improvement District Director Mabel Law, Flushing Postmaster William Rogers, and USPS Manager of Customer Relations Catherine Cassidy.
“Flushing is home to the largest Asian population on the East coast” said Flushing Postmaster William Rogers. “I can think of no better place than this to share our Go Global Initiative with small to medium sized Chinese American businesses” he added. One on one live demonstrations on USPS.Com and services that can be provided through the Internet were given to attendees, who got to learn first hand that the US Postal service is often the best choice for their shipping when compared to the largest competitors.
